Harvard Datafest 2020 DataFest 2020 will be held January 21 and 22. It is a collaboration among many Harvard institutions aimed at providing free workshops in data analysis, management, and visualization. Several geospatial workshops will be taught by CGA members. View the DataFest schedule, and register for the event.

Introduction to GIS Workshop Jan. 31 At the start of each semester the CGA teaches Basic Introduction to GIS, a 2 hour workshop aimed at providing students with an initial look GIS concepts and software. The workshop is free for Harvard Key holders, and will be taught next on January 31, 2020. Read more information and apply to the workshop

World's Most Influential Researchers

The annual list of Highly Cited Researchers from the Web of Science Group includes faculty from around the world whose papers have been cited most often by their peers—in the top 1% of citations for a chosen field or fields. The list includes CGA faculty affiliates and collaborators S. V. (Subu) Subramanian, Gary King, Brent Coull, Francesca Dominici, Antonella Zanobetti, and Joel Schwartz. Harvard Map Collection Additions The Harvard Map Collection recent licensed geographic and demographic information from the 2011 census of South Africa. The Landscan population database for 2018 is also currently available. Both can be found by searching in HOLLIS and are available to all Harvard Key holders.

CONFERENCES, CALLS, AND JOBS

UCGIS Travel Award and Call for Abstracts The University Consortium for Geographic Information Science (UCGIS) will be hosting a poster session at its 2020 Symposium in Honolulu, Hawaii. Students are encouraged to submit abstracts for talk presentations, and posters for travel award consideration. Read more and apply.
