Harvard Receives Airbus Imagery Grant

Airbus Defence and Space, a satellite imagery company that controls the Pleiades, SPOT, and other satellites, has granted Harvard University $30,000 to use toward imagery purchases. For more information and to request Airbus imagery.

Mapping Your Life Workshop - October 17th

The Out of Eden Walk project is a 7-year storytelling walk across the world. In a new educational initiative funded by this project, the CGA will be offering two free mapping workshops this fall. Each full day workshop will teach students how to make basic reference and thematic maps, and an interactive online story map using geotagged photos and GPS locations. there is still space available for the October 17th workshop in Cambridge, MA click here to register. GIS Institute Application Deadline October 23rd

GIS for the Humanities and Social Sciences Workshop

This full-day workshop to be held December 4, 2015, offers hands on instruction on learning and applying several GIS and mapping techniques commonly used by those practicing in the Humanities and Social Sciences. The workshop will include discussion and interactive exercises aimed to contextualize the usage of geography and maps for each participant's individual research or teaching interests. Tutorial: Creating an Interactive Story Map

This recently published tutorial walks one through the steps to create a story map that contains narrated, geotagged photos, and a GPS track. To make your own story map all you need is a iPhone or Android smartphone and a computer connected to the internet. Check out the tutorial.
